Objective: To determine the number of oxygen atoms in a potassium chlorate molecule.
Potassium chlorate is a compound composed of potassium (K), chlorine (Cl), and oxygen (O). It melts at 368°C and decomposes at 400°C into the solid compound, potassium chloride (KCl), with molecular oxygen (O2) driven off.
